College of Business Connects
with Economic Development
The College of Business is the home of the Delta Center for Economic
Development. The Center will coordinate the economic development
outreach services of the university and provide a coordinated and
comprehensive approach to serving the businesses, governments and
citizens of the Arkansas Delta. The opportunity to create the new
center came when a $1,000,000 grant from the Economic Development
of Arkansas Fund Commission was received. The Center has the task
of bringing all current outreach services under one roof and adding
new services that are appropriate for the Arkansas Delta.
The services range from A to Z or in this case from helping to retool
today's workforce to training the current and future leaders of the
Arkansas Delta. One traditional service is small business assistance
provided through the Small Business Development Center and critical
information and research services provided by the Business
Administration. The Business Information
Center is the only such center currently located on a university
campus in the nation.
- Professional Development and Workforce Training are key components
to any economic development program.
- Regional Leadership training is offered through a nine-month program
- Various economic research studies on issues such as economic impact
analysis are available as well as expertise in providing forecast
data for targeted areas.
- Transportation Management conducts studies for all transportation
modes and provides many economic impact studies for the Arkansas
Highway and Transportation Department as well as the Corps of Engineers.
With new leadership, new initiatives and a comprehensive coordinated
effort, the Delta Center for Economic Development will help improve
the economy of the Arkansas Delta and strengthen our communities.
